Debbie Thurman—author, journalist and speaker—has been actively involved in many facets of Christian ministry for more than twenty years. She now runs her own ministry, Sheer Faith, in Central Virginia where she leads a weekly support group and works with local and state officials and churches to improve mental health care and family support. She and husband Russ Thurman have been married for twenty-one years and have two teenage daughters. Debbie is a former Marine Corps public affairs officer, and is the author of From Depression to Wholeness: The Anatomy of Healing, Journaling From Depression to Wholeness: A 12-Week Program for Healing and Personal Growth, Hold My Heart: A Teen's Journal for Healing and Personal Growth and Sheer Faith: A Teen's Journey to Godly Growth.

In addition to her writing and speaking, Debbie mentors teens and families in crisis and works in Christian mental health advocacy.
