Meg Cassedy Clairmonte was born in Barbados and grew up in British Guyana. At age 12 she moved to Tampa, Florida, where she currently lives with her two sons. Aurora Mackey is a freelance journalist and was an award-winning staff feature writer and columnist with the Los Angeles Times. She was also a medical and healthcare reporter for the Los Angeles Daily News. Her work has appeared in newspapers across the country, including the Washington Post, San Francisco Chronicle, Philadelphia Inquirer, Chicago Tribune and Miami Herald.
