Marilyn Azevedo is a registered nurse living in Petaluma, California. After Andy's illness and death, she became an inspirational public speaker and wish coordinator for the North Bay Make-A-Wish Foundation and has lectured in many capacities. She also volunteers at Camp Okizu, a camp for children with cancer where she helps cook for 250 campers and participants who understand without explanation, the emotions involved when cancer invades your family.

Because of her efforts, President Clinton signed into law a bill that makes it illegal to deny people health insurance because of a pre-existing medical condition.
