In the years before becoming top radio royalty, Russ Parr honed his mic skills in Hollywood as a stand-up comic opening for Joan Rivers and as a comic recording artist parodying popular top-ten songs under the pseudonym Bobby Jimmy. In the 80's he performed on national concert tours with popular musical artists who appreciated his parodies of them and others who did not. Parr even made television appearances on the Martin Lawrence and Jenny Jones shows, while booking national ads for brands like Kodak and McDonald's -- and all of this before he discovered he had the golden gift of gab.
Parr left Hollywood for the brass mics of radio in 1989 finding his niche working as a disc jockey on KJMZ in Dallas, TX. Rising through the ranks of the world of radio, Russ Parr climbed the hierarchy from station to station eventually becoming the #1 show in Washington DC radio market in 1997. Currently, The Russ Parr Morning Show is syndicated across the country along with his weekend show On Air with Russ Parr. Russ also co-host of the TV One dating show Get the Hook Up and is a successful independent producer and filmmaker in his spare time. Russ Parr is clearly living the life of his dreams and maybe yours too.
